Train Tracks and Tunnels

I had another photo shoot on Saturday, this one was with Wil. We found some cool locations on the south end of the Valley -- a field, a tunnel, and some train tracks. Wil is an aspiring photographer, currently working in design. You can check out his website at www.blackoutphoto.com. Here are some favorites from the day.

Cold Hands, Warm Hearts

This morning, as the frost on the grass was still melting, the Arnold family came with smiling faces to their family portrait. What a bright, beautiful bunch! Despite their freezing toes and fingers, all the grandchildren were so well behaved and looked so adorable. Here's a sneak peek....

Precious Princesses

Monday morning, I had the opportunity to photograph the beautiful Horne 'babies' in their beautiful dresses -- beautiful princess dresses, I should say. The girls felt and looked like princesses as we photographed them for the holidays. As usual, things didn't go quite as planned and they were both tired and fussy at the end, but we got a few that are simply precious. Here are some of my favorites.

Vintage Garage

Tonight we shot Katie's bridals. First we went to Memory Grove to get some beautiful fall colors, but the fun started when we went to our second location. It's a place with big red garage doors, weathered and old, but an amazing backdrop. Katie felt more comfortable here, so she really came out of her shell. We both had a blast. As you can see, if was hard to only pick a couple....Here's a SLIDESHOW of some of my favorites.

Cinnamon, Rose, and Sage

Friday evening, I had the opportunity to photograph Franni and Jason's wedding ceremony. It was somewhat unconventional, but richly inspiring with a Native American theme. Evan, the officiator and flute player, created a wedding totem consisting of native american medicine animals that correspond with the body's chakra (energy) systems, located in 8 different locations of the body, and the herbs that also go with each chakra for healing and power. Despite the rain which decided to pour right as the ceremony was underway, it was beautiful and enlightening. Best of luck to Franni and Jason!

Fruity Pebbles

What an amazing evening for a photo shoot! We drove up the canyon to a place amidst the colorful mountain foliage, which Katie thought resembled Fruity Pebbles. The yellows, oranges, and reds were spectacular and a perfect background for Katie and Steve's engagement pictures. I threw together a quick slideshow for them. CLICK HERE if you want to see it.

Recharge + Recenter

After buying 4 brand new tires, I decided to break them in by driving 16 miles on a dirt road to my most favorite place -- the Spiral Jetty. Well, actually it's right next to it, but the Spiral Jetty is pretty awesome, too. You should go if you've never gone. It's about a 2 hour drive from Salt Lake, which is the perfect amount of time to sing my heart out to awesome music. It's on the North end of the Great Salt Lake. I love being out there, in the middle of nowhere, camera in hand, with no worries and nothing to think about except how beautiful this world is. So, despite the fact that I am embarassed to show pictures of myself (I HATE being in front of the camera), here they are.

Laced with Red

Despite a cold, rainy week, Saturday was a beautiful day with perfect weather for a wedding. A small group of close family and friends met to watch Tierra and Nate on this important occassion. Everything was stunning, especially the dresses, laced with red. Here are some of my favorite images.

Sweet Baby James

So I know it's been FOREVER since my last blog....I'll try to stay on top of this from now on. Life became super crazy, but that's no excuse to keep you all in the dark.

Here's my latest entry: Sweet Baby James, my nephew. These are just some shots when I was playing with my nephews one day. He is learning to scootch, roll, and move around. Gotta keep an eye on this kid now :) This last picture was actually taken by my 2-year old nephew. (Ok, so I was helping him steady the camera, but he looked through my view finder and he snapped the shutter)

Fall Has Begun

As much as I love summer, whenever the leaves start changing color there is a new found excitement in the air. The beautiful reds, oranges, and yellow mixed with luscious greens is pretty much a backdrop that could make anyone happy. Today I went up to Midway, UT to find that leaves had already begun their transformation. I can't wait until all the leaves have changed. I love fall!
